Can students rent a room?
Yes. Rooms suit University of Hertfordshire students at College Lane and de Havilland, as well as other renters.
Can working professionals rent a room?
Yes. Rooms to let are aimed at people working at Hatfield Business Park or commuting, including the train toward London.
Are international students welcome?
Yes. A UK-based guarantor or a different deposit arrangement may be asked for. That is explained before you commit.
How far are rooms from the University of Hertfordshire?
Hatfield rooms are a bus ride, cycle or walk from the College Lane and de Havilland campuses. Each area page describes the local links.
Which areas do you cover?
Hatfield neighbourhoods including Old Hatfield, the town centre, College Lane, de Havilland, Birchwood and others, plus Welwyn Garden City and Potters Bar.
What room types are there?
Single, double, en-suite and studio. En-suite means your own bathroom. Studio means your own kitchen as well.
Are the rooms furnished?
Yes. Listings are furnished rooms in shared houses. The room page lists what that room includes.
Is council tax included?
Bills included means gas, electricity, water and broadband. Full-time students are normally exempt from council tax. Check the council tax guide if you are unsure.
Can I move in outside term time?
Yes, when the room is free. The room page shows the available-from date, or asks you to request it.
What happens after I request a viewing?
The landlord replies, usually within 24 hours, to confirm a time. A request does not reserve the room.
Can I view by video call?
Ask in the viewing message. In-person viewings are the usual route.
How do I list a room?
Sign in, then use List a room. Add up to 3 photos, each 1MB or smaller, plus the details. The room is published after a check.
Can a letting agent list a room?
The form asks whether the listing is from a landlord or an agent. Rooms on the public site are published after a check.
Do you take a holding deposit online?
No. Do not pay a deposit before you have viewed and agreed terms with the landlord.
What if a room is already let?
The page stays up with a let notice and similar rooms for 7 days. After that it redirects to that area's page.
How does a landlord mark a room as filled?
Sign in and open My rooms, or tick This room is filled on the room page. The listing stays on the site for 7 days, then the address redirects to the area page.
How do I delete an enquiry?
Email hello@hatfieldrooms.uk and ask for the enquiry to be deleted.
